Operators

Operators combine or compare values: + - * / for arithmetic, == != > < for comparison, and and/or/not (spelled out or as symbols, depending on the language) for combining true/false results.

5 + 3        # 8
5 > 3        # true
5 > 3 and 2 > 1   # true

A comparison operator always produces a boolean (true/false) — that result is what conditions and loops act on next.
