Installing the .NET SDK
The .NET SDK bundles the C# compiler, runtime, and dotnet
command-line tool. This course uses .NET 8, the current
long-term-support (LTS) release.
dotnet --version
.NET (and therefore C#) runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux from a single cross-platform SDK — unlike C#'s early years, when it was tied to Windows via the older, Windows-only .NET Framework.
