Intermediate Projects
Prerequisites: Level 2 — Intermediate
Build these using data import, dplyr, tidyr, ggplot2, and descriptive statistics from Level 2. Create each as an RStudio project, and write it up as a Quarto (or R Markdown) report.
1. Personal Expense Analysis
Export a few months of spending to a CSV (or generate one with the
Random CSV Generator), import it with
readr, clean the dates with lubridate, and summarise spending by
month and category. Chart it with ggplot2 and write a short report of what
you found.
2. Exploring a Public Dataset
Choose a public dataset — for example, from your government's open-data
portal or Kaggle. Tidy it with tidyr, explore it with summaries and at
least four different kinds of chart, and describe three patterns you
found, with numbers to back them up.
3. Survey Results Dashboard Report
Given survey responses with multiple-choice and rating questions, count and percentage the answers per question, compare groups (by age band or region), and produce a report with a chart for each question.
4. Text Analysis
Take a book from Project Gutenberg, split it into words with stringr,
remove common "stop words", and chart the most frequent words and how word
use changes across chapters.
