What Can You Build With Swift?
Knowing what Swift is used for makes it easier to stay motivated while learning the basics:
- iPhone and iPad apps — from simple utilities to banking, fitness, and social apps.
- Mac apps — native desktop applications and menu-bar utilities.
- Watch, TV, and Vision Pro apps — using the same language and much of the same code.
- Widgets and app extensions — home-screen widgets, share extensions, keyboard extensions.
- Games — with Apple's SpriteKit, SceneKit, and RealityKit frameworks.
- Command-line tools — scripts and utilities for macOS and Linux.
- Server-side applications — web APIs built with frameworks such as Vapor or Hummingbird.
You will build smaller versions of several of these in the project lessons at the end of each level.
