Installing Julia

The recommended way to install Julia on every platform is juliaup, the official installer and version manager.

Windows

Install Julia from the Microsoft Store, or from a terminal:

winget install --name Julia --id 9NJNWW8PVKMN -e -s msstore

macOS and Linux

curl -fsSL https://install.julialang.org | sh

Open a new terminal afterwards so the julia command is on your PATH.

Check it works

$ julia --version
julia version 1.13.1

Managing versions with juliaup

juliaup status          # list installed versions
juliaup update          # update to the latest release
juliaup add lts         # also install the long-term support version
julia +lts --version    # run a specific version

Portable download

You can also download a zip or tarball from julialang.org/downloads, unpack it anywhere, and run bin/julia directly — handy on machines where you can't install software.
