What Can You Do With PowerShell?
Knowing what PowerShell is used for makes it easier to stay motivated while learning the basics:
- Manage computers — services, processes, files, disks, installed software, and settings, on one machine or hundreds at once.
- Manage users and accounts — Active Directory, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 licences, mailboxes, and groups.
- Automate the cloud — create, configure, and clean up Azure (and AWS) resources.
- Process data — read CSV, JSON, and XML files, transform them, and produce reports.
- Call web APIs —
Invoke-RestMethodturns JSON responses straight into objects. - Build and deploy software — CI/CD pipelines, packaging, and release scripts.
- Schedule jobs — nightly reports, backups, and cleanups.
You'll build smaller versions of several of these in the project lessons at the end of each level.
