Advanced Projects
Prerequisites: Level 3 — Advanced
Build these using Async, data access, Windows Forms, testing, and the deployment practices from Level 3.
1. A Windows Forms Business App
Build a customer or inventory manager with Windows Forms: a
DataGridView bound to a list, forms for adding and editing records with
validation, search, and saving to a local database (SQLite through
Microsoft.Data.Sqlite) or JSON file. Keep the business logic in a
separate class library with unit tests.
2. An Async Download Manager
Download several files at once with HttpClient, Async/Await, and
Task.WhenAll, show progress with IProgress(Of T), limit how many run at
the same time, and support cancelling with a CancellationToken.
3. Modernize Legacy Code
Take an old VB6- or VBA-style program (or write one in that style:
modules, global variables, On Error GoTo) and migrate it to modern VB.NET
step by step: Option Strict On, classes, Try/Catch, List(Of T) and
LINQ, and tests that prove the behavior didn't change. As a stretch goal,
move one part to a C# library called from the VB code.
